San Pedro, in the Maule Valley, is one of Chile's oldest wineries, having been founded in 1865. The company survived ownership changes during the 1980s and is now one of Chile's largest producers, making more than 770,000 cases annually. It is best known for its Gato Nero and Gato Blanco wines which together account for nearly 50% of exports. Other labels include Castillo de Molina, the prestige label, and Santa Helena. Exports under the popular San Pedro label are headed by Chardonnay and Merlot. The vineyard holdings have increased to 950ha (2,375 acres).
