The principality of Liechtenstein lies between eastern Switzerland and Austria. Between the houses of Liechtenstein there are some 15ha (37 acres) of vineyard, owned mainly by the country's prince, Furst Hans Adam 11. His estate cellars, the Hofkellerei des Fursten von Liechtenstein at Vaduz, are known in central Europe for their Chardonnay wine from low?yielding vines, and for Pinot Noir from old vines. The wines are similar in style and structure to those from the neighbouring cantons of German?speaking Switzerland.
