The region stretches from Montagu in the west to Oudt-shoorn in the east. Its vineyards require irrigation and tend to be planted in or near river valleys. Chenin Blanc, the Cape's versatile grape variety with naturally high acidity, thrives here, making a range of styles from dry ? though short?lived ? whites, to sweet and rose wines.
