The existing wine laws specify three levels of quality. These laws may soon be superseded.
Table Wines Sold in litre bottles. Table wines must have a minimum level of 8º of alcohol.
Quality Wines Sold in 75cl bottles. They must have the characteristics of their place of origin, their grape and their vintage, and a minimum alcohol level of 10º.
Wines of Special Quality Sold in 75cl bottles. Made from grapes fully matured on the vine or from overripe grapes. Wines of Special Quality must be characteristic of the region, grape variety and vintage. They are sold with the state's Seal of Approval.
