Greece makes a large range of wines: dry white and red wines, sweet Muscats, fortified red Mavrodaphne, and sparkling wines. Between 65 and 70% of the annual average production of around 50 million cases is in white wine, but this includes restina. Most of the wines, particularly the whites, are made for early drinking, but areas such as Naoussa and Nemea can produce wines that will age. And a number of the new small estates make wines that will take long ageing.
