A pair of champagne pliers, or a champagne "star", are useful if you plan to open several bottles of sparkling wine for a party. The pliers are designed to grip the mushroom top of the cork and add leverage. The star fits into the four grooves on the top and sides of the cork left by the wire cage. With both devices, take care to hold the top of the cork with the palm of your hand or fingers tc avoid sudden eruptions. |
