Collecting Strategies

A cellar book a ledger with columns for wine bought and consumed helps keep track of the constant flow of wine. In practice, with many single bottles or small lots wine, it is hard to keep a cellar book up to date. Use one for logging wine bought by the case, and/or for long-term storage. A system for labelling racks and bins is even more useful. Individual labels or wipe-clean tags can identify bottles, or racks can be labelled with a grid syem so that bottles can be pinpointed in a ledger. If wine is kept in wooden cases, ensure that the case end, with the wine name and vintage, is visible.
