Until the republics of the former Yugoslavia pass their own separate wine laws, the Yugoslavian wine law of 1974 is still in force in Slovenia, This allows for High Quality Wines, Quality Wines, Table Wines with Geographic Origin and Table Wines. The wines are allocated a category by a tasting panel and so, in theory, they can vary in their category from year to year. The tasting is backed up by a chemical analysis. No chaptalization is permitted for the High Quality Wines. |
