The country's largest wine one of the most innovative, Montana was the first to plant Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough. A top-quality, bottle-fermented sparkling white wine, Deutz Marlborough Cuvee (a joint venture with Champagne Deutz of France) is made from Marlborough fruit, as are many good-value varietals, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Montana also has vineyards in Hawke's Bay (Church Road labelled wines). It has wineries in Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Marlborough and Auckland.
