Fifty-five per cent of the French vine-yard area produces vin de table, or simple table wine. This figure includes the vins de pays. Most vin de table is red; most comes from the Midi, Provence and Corsica. Labels do not show region of origin, only the country: France. Vintage dates may not be used. Most are blended and sold under brand names.
