Carnuntum

East of Vienna, the soil is often stony, with much clay and chalk. This is promising territory for red wines such as Zweigelt, especially from villages such as Gottlesbrunn. Good producers here include Walter Glatzer, Ludwig Neumayer and Hans Pitnauer.
