On the outskirts of Santiago, this family estate consists of a majestic old winery and ageing cellars together with some of the most modern winemaking equipment available today. The estate vineyard, long known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, has been expanded to 275ha (688 acres), and now includes Merlot and Chardonnay. Since 1990 Cousino Macul's red wines have been aged in French barriques. When a replanting programme has been completed, the company will bottle equal amounts of red and white wines. The long-lived Antiguas Reservas Cabernet Sauvignon is the top of the range.
