Weinviertel

Accounting for 31% of Austria's grape production, the Weinviertel is the largest of the wine regions. It sprawls north and north-west of Vienna, with most wines made in a light, easy-to-drink style.
Some producers concentrate on Eiswein production. Much of the Weinviertel enjoys a dry climate that is suited to the gamble involved in this pursuit.

Good producers include Richard Luckner, Malteser Ritterorden (now part of the Lenz Moser group), Roman Pfaffl, Fritz Rieder (Eiswein) and Helmut Taubenschuss.
